South Forty Community Garden | 2813 East South St. | 90805

Started in 2010, the South Forty is a green oasis in an industrial area. It has 43 plots, many currently available. Gardeners and Jordan High School students helped build a grape arbor, wooden tool shed, kiosk, butterfly pond, chicken coop, bee hive, and greenhouse. Long Beach Beekeepers offers a class every first Saturday at 8 a.m. South Forty is the site for Grow LA Victory Garden classes each April and the Jardín de los Santos charity garden, a tribute to the Francisco de los Santos family, who donated the property. Raised beds provide local groups of special needs adults easy access.
