Opened in December 2013 with 20 small plots, the Seventh and Chestnut garden in downtown Long Beach is a favorite of nearby apartment dwellers. Located in the Willmore City Historic District, it features a Victorian-inspired wrought iron fence, small citrus orchard, shady grape arbor, and demonstration garden tended by the Wells Fargo Green Team. A curbside planting of California natives attracts butterflies and pollinators. The garden was made possible by a city Neighborhood Improvement Grant, donation from Lowe’s Charitable Fund and a lot donated by local realtor Erik Bueno. There is a short waiting list.
