Dear LBO Gardeners,

It is spring, and normally I would be contacting you with news of work days, potlucks, classes and so on. Sadly, things have changed, and may continue to change with the current Covid-19 crisis and state, county and local restrictions.

We will not be having work parties, or any group activities, until further notice. We want to be especially cautious about slowing the spread of the virus. I also have to limit my own contact with gardeners, as there are so many households gardening with LBO.

The garden will be open for you to work individually. It is outdoor recreation and an important food source. If you choose to do so, please use precautions. Avoid close contact with each other and either wear gloves while using locks and common tools or wash your hands afterwards. (I will place bottles of hand soap on the picnic tables this weekend.)

We are leaving this important decision up to you. If you choose not to come to the garden because you are sheltering in place, you will not lose your plot. But please let me know.

This is also the time when we normally sign up new members for the new season. I’m not sure exactly how I will be doing that, but I may resort to FaceTime calls. So please do not be alarmed if you see someone touring the garden while talking to me on their phone. Be welcoming, but from a distance.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions, concerns or suggestions.

Sincerely,

Joe Corso
