Dr_Julie_Bolton Julie Bolton
Secretary

Julie Bolton is a family physician who practices locally. Dr. Bolton works primarily in low-income and underserved communities in Long Beach and also teaches medical students and residents at Pacific Hospital of Long Beach. A large portion the patients she sees suffer from obesity and diet-related chronic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension and resulting heart disease. She believes that the best way to help her patients be well is by preventing disease in the first place through creating a healthy food environment. She envisions a city where all residents, regardless of income, can have access to nutritious food either by growing it in a neighborhood community garden, and through other local solutions like Community Supported Agriculture.

Josi_Jenneskens_long_beach_organic_board_of_directors Josi Jenneskens

Coming from a long line of farmers, Josi didn't fully appreciate her heritage until she and her husband, Spencer, first turned the rich soil of a community garden plot in Seattle's P-Patch Program. Since then she has been an advocate for all that community gardens have to offer, both to individuals and the community. She has tilled the soil at the Wild Oats Community Garden since 2004 and likes to visit community gardens in places where she travels.

Josi hopes to help develop an intern program for Long Beach Organic. Her day job includes making maps for a local SoCal city.
